Sam Phillips was a pioneering American record producer known for founding Sun Records and playing a crucial role in the development of rock and roll, producing iconic artists like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Sam Phillips is accredited with breaking down racial barriers in the music industry, promoting a blend of country music and blues that was fostered and adapted for generations leading up to current day, and will follow into the future. He worked not only to incline the world of blended music, within his period, but also to pave the way for future compeers of musicians. He passed away in 2003, leaving behind a legacy as the greatest vital figure in the 20th century of music.

Samuel Cornelius Phillips [05 January 1923 – 30 July 2003] was born in Florence Alabama. He developed a desire for music early on his childhood in which he took his aspirations into adulthood, where he became a prodigy in the history of recording and production of music. Sam was predisposed by the sounds of black laborers singing in the fields. After working as a disc jockey and the introduction to Memphis Recording Service in 1950, he established Sun Records in Memphis Tennessee and became a noteworthy platform for emerging rock and roll artists.

Sam was a visionary music producer to many artists during his time who shaped the face of moder music to be introduced the world to Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, B.B. King, amongst many others. His aid in breaking down racial barriers brought about the beginning of, or a platform for rock and roll.

Mr. Phillips, in addition recorded regional blues, and sold the masters to R&B labels, to include, but limited too, Howlin’ Wolf, the Bobby “Blue” Band, Little Junior Parker & Rufus Thomas.
